I researched this item as we needed a lift top coffeetable for use with laptops, etc. But, It is significantly darker than the medium cherry finish that is pictured here. I would call it a dark cherry. However the quality is very sturdy and it is very attractive, it just does not match the other wooden furniture in the room. I am unsure what to do at this point because returning a $500 200 pound piece of furniture is prohibitive, so I guess we will make it work. The delivery and communication from OfficeFurniture.com was excellent.
