Why has the real egg roll vanished from modern restaurants?
In the Thai/Chinese places I've tried, they give you what appears to be pre-made frozen egg rolls. They taste like sauerkraut, modern coffee table they are hard, they are stringy and they are absolutely hideous. 7-Eleven has a much better egg roll that comes in a carton in their frozen section.
What is going on? Is there some food wholesale company that sells this pre-fabbed product who has convinced restaurants of the time or money they can save by going this route is worth it?
